PLEASE TELL ME THE TRUTH
At dinner at our neighborhood cafe, Table 3 ( divine!), the 5 of us came to the conclusion that we really relied on each other for an honest opinion.
?too tight, to short, too young, too old, NOT YOU! We all concluded that we are very honest, when asked, in our opinion. And this is not always easy. We do try to be diplomatic, delicate and encouraging. Collectively the 5 of us offer quite a variety of age, shape and style. We hope you will ask for an opinion if you are hesitant....even the most confident stylish woman occassionally needs to know that the look is the best ' coming and going". Even if you don't want a second opinion it is always a good idea to try on consignment clothing as it may have been slightly altered....and most consignment shops do not have a return policy.
MOTHS WILL EAT AWAY YOUR PROFIT
WE KNOW THAT IT IS FAR FAR TOO EARLY FOR YOU TO BE THINKING ABOUT NEXT FALL ***************!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT WE ARE,,,BECAUSE SOME OF THE FALL INVENTORY IS SHOWING UP AT THE COUNTER WITH MOTH HOLES AND THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING TO THE PERSON WHO WANTED IT AND IT IS DISAPPOINTING TO YOU AND TO US BECAUSE WE CANNOT SELL THE ITEM .
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO...THIS WINTER WHEN YOU ARE WEARING YOUR SILKS, CASHMERES AND WOOLENS PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE CARE AND STORAGE.
1. SEPARATE CLOTHES YOU PLAN TO CONSIGN.
2. CHECKOUT YOUR STORAGE AREA: CLOSET, CHEST, ATTIC. IT SHOULD BE VENTILATED AND OF COURSE MOTH FREE. NOT TOO HOT DURING SUMMER.
OVER HEATING IS HARD ON FABRIC AND PARTICULARLY FURS.
3. CLOTHES MUST MUST BE CLEANED. AS DIRECTED. NOT ONLY DO WE NOT SELL CLOTHING THAT HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED BUT MOTHS ARE ATTRACTED TO

One additional note about wedding etiquette
The Times had one more comment about what is appropriate these days....at least in New York. We thought we would pass this along
You are right. Wearing white — or black — to a wedding is off the taboo list. These days it’s simply a question of style. Plenty of women wear black dresses to formal evening weddings, and black is a popular color for bridesmaids’ dresses, as at this wedding. The same goes for wearing white, as long as you couldn’t be mistaken for the bride. And while it’s been the tradition for the past 150 years or so, there’s no rule that says the bride has to wear white either.
Another Wedding: Another Dress
Sunday reading the New York Times Style section I ran across this article which I hope answers a question we are frequently asked...? Does formal really mean formal?
Formal long? Formal short? He is wearing a tux.

Party and Evening Shoes
A great party shoe - not necessarily black - can really tart up a boring sheath dress. Try a jeweled strappy slingback or ox-blood-red patent pumps. A really great evening or party shoe should have a high heel and flash a lot of skin. Think about strappy sandals or D'Orsay pumps (these have the sides cut out) and wait for the compliments on your fabulous shoes.
CLOSET CLEANING. LOVE IT OR HATE IT TIS THE SEASON.
CLOSET CLEANING. LOVE IT OR HATE IT TIS THE SEASON. FALL IS AROUND THE CORNER.
IN THE SOUTH THERE IS NOTHING THAT SAYS FALL MORE THAN A LITTLE DINNER PARTY ON A COOL RAINY NIGHT THAN THE FRAGRANCE OF MOTH BALLS AND DAMP WOOL.
SO IT IS TIME TO FACE THE WOOL, THE CASHMERE, AND THE SILK...IN THE BRIGHT LIGHT AND SEARCH FOR THOSE IRREGULAR LITTLE HOLES, AND TINY TRACKS USUALLY FOUND IN OUR FAVORITE PRICEY ITEMS. HATE IT... HOWEVER SOMETIMES YOU MAY HAVE THE SPOTS REWOVEN...
NOW ABOUT THAT MOTHBALL FRAGRANCE ... DREADFUL....THERE ARE ODORFREE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY REPELLENTS OR THERE ARE THE CEDAR CLOSETS WHICH ARE PRETTY STANDOFFISH AS WELL.
TAKE THEM INTO THE SUNLIGHT OUTSIDE ON A COOL DAY AND IF POSSIBLE LET THEM BREATHE A BIT BEFORE PUTTING BACK IN THE CLOSET.
OUR ADVICE;
NEVER EVER PUT YOUR WINTER ITEMS AWAY WITHOUT CLEANING, DRY CLEANING, OR HAND CARE.
MOTHS PREFER HUMAN SKIN PARTICLES.
WE PUT OUR CLOTHING IN EITHER COTTON HANGING BAGS, COTTON ZIPPER FLOOR BAGS, OR RUBBER MAID.
NEVER USE DRYCLEANING BAGS FOR STORAGE, STAINS REACT AND REAPPEAR IN PLASTIC, WHITES YELLOW, THEY CAN BE A HAZARD NEAR CHILDREN.
CLEAN YOUR CLOSET WALLS AND FLOORS BETWEEN SEASONS. YOU MIGHT FIND THAT LITTLE J CREW YOU LOST LAST YEAR.
